Jazz in January is a fundraising and celebration event that supports Connecting Generations’ programs Creative Mentoring, Seasons of Respect, and Creative Transitions.

Honoring and Celebrating Mentoring
Connecting Generations will honor three longtime Board members and mission champions with the 10th Annual Robert A. Kasey, Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award:  Jane Maroney, Edward F. "Mike" Eaton, and James Patton.  Read more.

Connecting Generations will also honor Exemplary Mentors Ray Dotts (of Camden), Victor Murray (of Selbyville), and Dirk Goverts (of Bear) and Exemplary Mentoring Program Coordinators Barbara Derby (from BlackRock Investment Management Corporation, Wilmington), Jo Anne Rosenfeld (from North Dover Elementary School, Dover), Jennifer DeHoff (from Mt. Pleasant Elementary School, Wilmington), and Barbara Jo German (from Delaware School for the Deaf, Newark) for their exceptional commitment to mentoring.  Read more.

Senator Carper will present awards to these individuals and will recognize all mentors and mentor champions who work to make a difference in the lives of young Delawareans.

Lt. Gov. Matt Denn will also recognize all mentors and describe the new Markell-Denn mentoring initiative.

Great Food, Silent Auction, and Dancing
Guests will dance the night away in the beautiful Crystal Ballroom at the DuPont Country Club. The Tim Laushey Jazz and Swing Band is back by popular demand!

A wide selection of alcoholic and soft drinks will be served with a variety of savory heavy hors d’oeuvres, a carving station, and desserts throughout the evening.
